Dr. Lin Kowitz knows what it feels like to be dismissed by a medical professional. For years, she navigated the healthcare system as a patient — her concerns minimised, her symptoms explained away, never quite finding answers. It wasn’t until she found one clinician who genuinely listened, and who had the expertise to build a plan around how her body and mind responded, that everything changed. That experience is the foundation of everything she does.
She became an audiologist because she has always loved two things: helping people and technology. Audiology is the rare field where both come together. But her personal experience with healthcare also shaped the kind of clinician she would become — and why she started Ear to Ear Audiology. She wanted to build something different: a practice where patients are never rushed, never dismissed, and always treated the way she would want a family member treated. With genuine care, clinical honesty, and all the time needed to get it right.
Dr. Lin has a particular passion for complex cases — the patients who have slipped through the cracks. Perhaps you’ve had multiple appointments and things still don’t sound right. Perhaps you’ve been told your hearing is fine, but you know it isn’t. Perhaps you’ve been labelled as a difficult patient, when the truth is you’re simply exhausted from not being helped.
She has a natural knack for finding what others have missed. She asks the questions that often get skipped, has honest conversations when needed, and approaches even the most frustrating cases with patience and compassion. She brings both the expertise and the heart to see it through.
Dr. Lin began her career in 2012 with the Australian Government Hearing Clinics, seeing patients both in clinics and in their homes. It became clear that patients fitted in their own environments consistently achieved better outcomes — and the science backs this up.
A hearing test is clinically valid anywhere the room is quiet enough to meet the thresholds set by ANSI S3.1, the audiometric testing standard — verified with a sound level meter before every appointment. But fitting hearing aids is a separate matter entirely. Your home has its own acoustic fingerprint: the voices of the people you live with, the hum of your kitchen, the echo of your living room. Using Live Speech Mapping, Dr. Lin measures how real speech sounds in your actual environment and calibrates your hearing aids to match — not a clinical approximation of your life.
Outside of work, Dr. Lin is an active volunteer in her community and a present, engaged parent to her two daughters. The same values that shape her practice — showing up, listening, and genuinely caring — are simply how she lives.
As a woman- and person-of-color-owned business, Ear to Ear Audiology is deeply committed to welcoming every patient, regardless of race, religion, identity, or background.
